Up in the mountains. Day 15

Oggi giornata di riposo per le nostre bici. Per salire a tempio 44 e 45 abbiamo preso dei mezzi pubblici e da li proseguito a piedi.
A tempio 44 ci imbattiamo in una comitiva organizzata in autobus. Ascoltare 50 persone che all'unisono recitano l'heart sutra in un tempio racchiuso tra le pendici di una montagna è particolarmente toccante.
Insieme a noi viaggia anche una henro australiana, con cui scambiamo qualche chiacchiera durante il tragitto.
La salita a tempio 45 è per capre di montagna, in 800 metri di cammino si sale di 200 metri.
In una grotta che si inoltra per una decina di metri nella roccia della montagna, alla fioca luce di qualche candela e tra il fumo degli incensi, le statue delle divinità ascoltano i sutra recitati dai pellegrini.
Mentre il sole cala dietro le vette di questi monti, alla fermata incontriamo una coppia di pensionati canadesi, pellegrini anche loro, ed una anziana signora del posto, con cui chiacchieriamo amabilmente mentre attendiamo il bus che ci riporta a Matsuyama.

Rest day for our bikes today. To climb up to temple 44 and 45 we took public transportation and then walked.
At temple 44 we meet a charter bus of pilgrims: listening to 50 people chanting with single voice the heart sutra in a temple closed among mountains is really touching.
Along with us travels an australian henro, with whom we have some chat during the bus trip.
Climbing to temple 45 is for mountain goats: 800 meters walk to rise up 200 meters.
In a cave entering the rock of the mountain for a tenth of meter, under the feeble light of some candels and among the smoke of incense, the gods' statues listen to the sutras chanted by the pilgrims.
While the sun sets behind the mountain range, at the bus stop we meet a couple of retired canadian henroea and an old local woman, with whom we spend time chatting while we wait the bus that will bring us back in Matsuyama.
